What you'll achieve
When someone comments a keyword on your posts (for example “info”), they receive a private message with what you promised.
Before you start
- A Instagram o Messenger channel already connected (guide “Connect Instagram and Messenger”).
- Know which words you want to trigger the reply and what message you want to send.
- Be clear on how Meta works: it sends only one private message per comment, within 7 days of the comment; the person can only continue the conversation if they reply, and within 24 hours.
Steps
- In the editor, click Channels in the sidebar and scroll down to New rule.
- Choose the channel and type a name for the rule.
- In Words that trigger the reply type the words separated by commas. Choose whether the comment must contain the word or be only the word.
- Type the private message. Make it clear and short: it's the only thing the person will receive until they reply.
- Optional: write a short public reply to the comment (for example, “We'll message you privately”).
- Leave checked Reply only once per person if you don't want to repeat the message to someone who comments several times.
- Click Create rule. Test by commenting the word from another profile.
Expected result
The rule appears as On. Whoever comments the word receives the private message and, if they reply, the bot continues with the flow. In Recent activity you see how many comments were processed and how each send went.
Common issues
The message doesn't arrive
Check that the rule is on, that the word matches and that no more than 7 days have passed.
The person had already received the message
With “once per person” it isn't repeated.
A comment inside a thread (a reply to another comment) doesn't trigger the rule
That's intentional.
The account doesn't reply to itself.
Privacy
We don't store the text of comments; we only record that one matched and how the send went. To delete a person's data, write to us with their ID.
When to write to us
With the rule name, the post and the time of the test.
