What you'll achieve
Close an opportunity as Won or Lost, record why it was lost and later review the most frequent reasons to improve your process.
Before you start
- A loss reason is required to mark an opportunity as Lost.
- Write reasons consistently: the report groups by exact text. “High price” and “very high price” count separately.
- “Won value” shows what was closed in the CRM; it isn't the same as money collected.
Steps
- Open the opportunity from the board or from All leads.
- In the list Stage choose Won o Lost.
- If you chose Lost, the field appears Loss reason. Type it (maximum 255 characters).
- Click Save. You'll see the notice Saved.
- You can also do it from the conversation: in the side panel Sales CRM, change Stage (and type Loss reason if it's Lost) and click Save.
- To see closed opportunities on the board, click Filters, choose Won o Lost in Stage and click Search. If you drag a card to Lost without a reason, the form opens to ask you for it.
- To reopen an opportunity, open the card and change the Stage to an open stage; reopening clears the close date.
- To analyze results, open Sales CRM > Sales. There you see Open opportunities, Won, Lost and the Win rate, and the table Loss reasons with the 10 most frequent reasons, their count and their percentage.

Expected result
The opportunity is closed with its close date. Won ones add to the Won value and lost ones appear in the reasons table, along with the win rate (won divided by won plus lost).
Common issues
I can't save it as Lost.
The loss reason is missing.
I don't see the Won and Lost columns.
By default the board only shows open stages; use the filter for Stage.
“No reason recorded” in the report.
There are lost opportunities with no written reason.
The win rate seems low or high to me.
Open ones don't count, and it depends on the active filters and your permissions.
Other reasons.
It appears when there are more than 10 different reasons; standardize the reason text.
